Johnny Depp return to a land of make-believe as the Mad Hatter in an Alice in Wonderland sequel.

Fresh off the heels of a flop with The Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp is in talks to return to a land of make-believe as the Mad Hatter in an Alice in Wonderland sequel.

That's right, those eyebrows are coming back!

Tim Burton, however, will not be returning to the franchise.

Instead, director James Bobin has been slated to helm the project. Will he keep a look that was very much of a Tim Burton variety? Remains to be seen.

Will the sequel come close to the original in terms of box office success?

That will be a most interesting storyline to follow. The first Alice in Wonderland did amazingly well for a movie that wasn't very well received by the critics, nor did word of mouth do it much good. Yet, it brought in over a billion dollars in its run.

It seems as if Disney is keen on sticking with Depp despite the poor performance of The Lone Ranger. Not only is Alice in Wonderland getting a sequel, but Depp's benchmark series, Pirates of the Caribbean is scheduled for its fifth incarnation. Fifth!

I cannot wait to see if Captain Jack Sparrow beats Union Cane or not.
